The Reluctant Lady (Regency Escapades) by Alicia RasleyMidsummer BooksPraise for Alicia Rasley's books: Alicia Rasley -- who incidentally now offers creative writing tips and guidelines at her website-- has an impeccable writing style. Her word choices and turns of phrase are near-perfect, and she has a knack for evoking just the right mood in a given scene, whether it be adventurous, humorous or passionate. She also has an excellent sense of pacing and timing. Nonesuch Reviews
An excellent Regency romance, which posits the question: can a man and a woman be platonic friends in Regency society. The hero is a dashing rake, and the heroine a faultless upper class lady, but the plot is something other than run-of-the-mill "opposites attract." The secondary characters are entertaining, including the lady's irrepressible children.
This is the third Alicia Rasley book that I've read, and they're all excellent. She deserves to be more widely read.
Goodreads Reviews
From the Rita-award winning author of Regency romances, and a Kindle bestseller!
Overview of the Story Is there such a thing as Platonic friendship? The rakish Earl of Tressilian and virtuous Lady Killeaven are determined to prove it's true--a man and a woman can truly be just friends. In decadent Regency London, of course, their friendship proves more scandalous than any flaming affair. And Tressilian, after years of "just friends," is starting to wonder if that is, indeed, all he wants to be. So this Royal Navy hero embarks on a campaign as dangerous and complex as any battle at sea, to win the heart and hand of the one woman who knows him too well to be seduced.
The Reluctant Lady is the second in the Regencies by Rasley series, and serves up the traditional Regency with an elegantly lush style and a dash of humor. 95K words, PG rated.
**If you were looking for another romance from the early Regency period, check out Royal Renegade.
**If you like rogue heroes, search for Poetic Justice.
**If you like sweet stories with naval heroes, you might like my short Valentine's novella, The Wilder Heart.
**If you were hoping for something shorter or spicier, check out my pennamed (Cesca Ross) erotic short story The Gift by Cesca Ross. But be warned, it's more graphic than the usual Regency story!
**If you were looking for my husband's books about Nepal, search for Light in the Mountains by Jeff Rasley. (Yes, two writers in the same family. Moodiness galore!) Being an escort is easy…if you know the Trix of the trade.
They call me Trixie. I’m whatever you need me to be. Some like me to bend to their whim. Some like me to take charge. Others just like to take me, any way they can. I’m not ashamed of my job. It pays the bills and sometimes—I get off on it. I don’t have those puritanical hangups most Americans do. I like men. I like women. Mostly, I like to make money. Peek inside my world. I dare you. Be warned, my story is short and it is not a romance. It does not have a happily ever after.

Poetic Justice, a Traditional Regency Romance (Regency Escapades) by Alicia RasleyMidsummer BooksPraise for Poetic Justice: Honestly, this ranks as one of the best regency romances I have ever read. I read it a few years ago and when I found a copy of it, I bought it and hung on to it. Amazon Customer
I highly recommend it. There was no thought of going to bed before I finished it. Heroes and Heartbreakers site: Momwritesjelly.
Loved it, have read it more than once. Goodreads: Frances Fuller Poetic Justice won the Romantic Times Certificate of Excellence!
Overview: A play manuscript written in Shakespeare's own hand! Between rogue rare-books dealer John Dryden and his prize is an obsessed librarian who wants to destroy it... and the heiress who can lead him to it, but only if he's willing to risk his life, his freedom, and his loner's heart.
More Praise:POETIC JUSTICE is a delightful, emotionally-satisfying story with the main focus being on the characters and their journeys towards love and trust. Gracie Stanners
Well plotted, strong characters and real conflict combines for an entertaining read. I couldn't put it down. Louise Behiel

I read the sequel first (Poetic Justice, a Traditional Regency Romance) and was amazed by it. This one is almost as good. The characters are colorful yet believable, and the plot does not echo every other Regency novel. Having the heroine be a Russian princess is most intriguing. K.Zachary
